“Alone in the empty forest,
I have an appointment with the orange cloud.”
I painted this in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Boston Mills, Ohio. It was late afternoon and then sunset offered up a dramatic, rapidly changing variety of colors, shapes and values. In this painting, I attempted to create a sunset that creates an elusive calm feeling that seems to settle over the landscape. I painted intuitively with a palette knife, painting what I felt instead of what I saw.
