In the windy hiss of autumn rain
Shallow water fumbles over stones
Waves dance and fall on each other
A white egret startles up.
The landscape offered up a dramatic, quick changing variety of colors and shapes. In this painting I attempted to create a sunset that captures the elusive calm feeling that seemed to settle over the landscape.
I like to paint the complexity of colors with a variety of strokes, layer after layer. From start to finish, each painting may take more than a month. I paint mainly with the palette knife to produce heavy textures and occasionally, in my final touches, use a brush.
