“ Spring groves, flower such charm,
Spring birds call so in tune.
Spring wind full of feeling,
Life up shirt, touch tip of heart.”
I live just a couple blocks away from Prospect Park, Brooklyn NY and go there almost every day. Last year, when I passed by in May, I was sure that I found a perfect place with spectacular plants of living color to paint. Those bold purples and lavish pinks weaved intricate designs around the park and truly penetrated into the air. I painted a small version of this painting in the park and worked on this larger one later in my studio.
I like to paint the complexity of colors with a variety of strokes, layer after layer. From start to finish, each painting may take more than a month. I paint mainly with the palette knife to produce heavy textures and occasionally, in my final touches, use a brush.
